Do you love Hiking and Adventures?
Welcome to the Chicago Hiking, Outdoors, & Social Meetup Group. We strive for adventures, fun, and friendships. This group is for people who enjoy hiking, being outdoors and meeting new people. We feature hikes for all skill levels, canoeing, camping, biking, social gatherings and other outdoor activities. These events are a great way to get out, meet people, and smell some fresh air. If you have a suggestion, please feel free to contact the Organizer or post them on "ideas for meetup" on the calendar page. Most of the activities are pretty tame, but any participation in this group is at your own risk. If you want to meet fun and adventurous people, this group is for you. Come join us. It will be an adventure you won't soon forget.
Adventures are closer than you think!
---------------------------------------
Get Involved:
We need Assistant Organizers and Event Hosts! If you don't see your preferred activity listed or a hike on your side of town, please volunteer by contacting the Organizer! You might be surprised just how many people are looking to do the same activity that you are. Other ways to volunteer would be a Greeter (Greet new members as they join the group.) or Monthly News Letter Editor (Write articles for a Monthly News Letter to be published on the message board.). We welcome Event & Group Sponsors who need some publicity for a great price!
Why not become a Hike Leader?
---------------------------------------
Monthly Photo Contest:
We are having a Monthly Photo Contest. You have 1 month to upload your favorite photo. At the end of the month, the Assist Organizers will pick the top 12. We will then have a poll for voting on these 12. The members will be able to rate each picture from 1 to 10 rating. The photo with the highest ratings at the end of this month will win. This photo will then be used as the open page picture for following month. The only thing you receive are bragging rights.
Upload January Photos Here: http://www.meetup.com/ChicagoHOS/photos/799681/
Please name the photo and leave a comment about the photo.
So why not amaze the rest of the members with you photography skills?
---------------------------------------
100 Miles Club and 200 Miles Club:
Are you looking for a Goal to reach? We have two clubs for you. You join the 100 Miles Club when you reach 100 Miles hiking a year with this group only (Chicago Hiking, Outdoors, & Social Meetup Group). You join the 200 Miles Club when you reach 200 Miles hiking a year with any Meetup Groups (Windy City Hikers, this group, etc.). Your Meetup Names will be posted in the About Section in this group.
Let's start counting those miles!
---------------------------------------
Dues and Fees:
There are no membership dues to be part of this group. For prepay events, we will sometimes add up to three dollars, normally 1 to 2, to the payment to help out with the Meetup.com monthly fees.
For other events, example hikes, we suggest a 1 or 2 dollar donation at the start of the event. This is totally voluntary. No records will be kept for who donates and who doesn't.
If you want to make a voluntary donation. Go to the top of this page and click on "Pay Online". Enter the amount you would like to donate. Donate any amount you like. This will be paid with Paypal.
We would personally prefer if people would donate their time as an Assistant Organizer or Hike Leader versus making a donation of money. Any help is very much appreciated.
Thank you!

Welcome to the Chicagoland Fun Group (CFG)
'CFG' (formerly 'Got Cabin Fever') is a group of members looking for new adventures, who want to meet people and make new friends and enjoy all the social aspects Chicago and it's suburbs offer.
Our Membership composed of night life enthusiasts, foodies, wine lovers, sports enthusiasts, singles and couples and anyone looking to meet people and have a great time.
Hi Everyone! Welcome to our group. After attending several events and meeting some wonderful people thru meetup Liz, Sheila and I formed this group in March of 2008. Little did we know that this group would turn out to be the most popular in the western suburbs and with that form many new friendships along the way. Without the initial help & suggestions and input of the original members this group would not be what it is today. Many thanks should go to them and to Liz & Sheila who stayed focus on thriving to make this group what is is today.
About the group: If you love to Dance, Socialize and be Active this is the group for you. If nothing makes you happier than dancing your (whatever it is you shake) on the dance floor under the influence of little more than a great band and cool DJ (and maybe a drink or two) we hope you'll consider joining us for great laughs and fun times. Join new and old friends and explore Night Life in around the Western Suburbs of Chicago. We will be going to bars/clubs in the Naperville, Aurora, Schaumburg, St. Charles, Geneva, Downers Grove, Oakbrook area and also try other places near and far.
We'll also plan outdoor spring/summer activities and meet at social events like Ballgames, Cosmic Bowling, Summer Festivals, Movies, Dinners, Happy Hours, Karaoke, Pub Crawls, Comedy Clubs, Wine & Art Fests. We'll plan Softball, Tennis & Volleyball events at local parks in the area. We'll do hiking, biking and fishing trip at local parks and forest preserves. Winter events include Snow Tubing, Cross Country Skiing and Ice Skating. And we'll also be takings trips to Chicago and explore all that the city has to offer. We welcome any idea and suggestions.
Let's see...Singles, couples, married, divorced, widow are all welcomed, but the one important thing is to get people together in a friendly atmosphere for good times. We are a fun social group (not a singles/dating group) so please be aware of this when signing up to be a member. Come as you are, party as you like, dance how you will and have fun.
Please note: If you would like to be part of this group we require a current photo of yourself on your profile to get approved. This is the best way to be able to meet and greet you properly at an event and use your first name as well (NO initials or nicknames). So if you don't have a picture on your profile page you will not be approved for membership. Also before requesting to join read the rules & guideline set for this group by clicking here.
Hope to see you all soon.

This meet up consists of industry professionals that have been involved in the development of software for five or more years.
The Software Development Community is an informal and interactive group of professionals that have a passion for software development, thus are interested in employing best practices and sharing their knowledge and experiences.
This Software Development Community doesn't focus on any one technology (Java, .Net, Ruby, PHP, etc.), methodology (waterfall, agile, etc.), practice (scrum, XP, TDD, FDD, BDD, etc.) or role (Dev, Test, BA, BSA, PM, Architect, etc.).
Meetings will range in topics from requirements, design, analysis, architecture, development, programming, testing, implementation, etc...
We are a friendly group of people who like to get together and socialize and support each other in the Raw Food World. Everyone is welcome, from the casual raw food-curious diner to the 100% raw food enthusiast. It's all good. We continue to attract the most wonderful people. Share recipes, tips on eating out and traveling raw, sources for food...get a real RAWducation--and, have lots of fun.
"Eat, sleep & live raw!"
This is a play/support group for parents who have children with sensory issues, autism, aspergers, etc. I have found that it can be tough going through this as a parent and very confusing. I would love to meet other parents going through the same thing and give the kids a playgroup with buddies that are like them. This is a very laid back group, we do not judge or force any kind of advice on eachother, this is a place for comfort, play and new friendships.
Meet other local people who are interested in walking for fitness! We'll meet up to walk around Oak Park/River Forest/Forest Park and on local trails. We've also been known to do a little hiking, biking, eating and drinking as a group.
To lose weight and to keep it off, you need to get moving. Walking at a moderate pace for 30-60 minutes burns stored fat and can build muscle to speed up your metabolism. Walking an hour a day is also associated with cutting your risk of heart disease, breast cancer, colon cancer, diabetes and stroke. Isn't it time to work 1-hour walks into your busy lifestyle?
This group exists to encourage people to get into the outdoors for physical and mental health and have a blast doing it!
We intend to exploit as many opportunities in the area as possible to never be without something to do... kayaking, biking, camping, backpacking, hiking, shooting, fishing, skiing .....
We would like to introduce you to new and interesting activities you've always wanted to try.
We also like to hold social events from time to time just to give people a chance to meet, chat, and enjoy each other's company.
Some events are free, others are for a fee through the company. All are guaranteed to be memorable.
If you are reading this, your life has most likely taken a major turn. This group is for anyone who desires support in dealing with a present or recent divorce experience. It is NOT a dating group or a singles group. Our meetings are informal and friendship oriented. We talk about the serious issues with a good amount of levity and laughter thrown in. There is no main theme and are no main speakers - just a bunch of new friends getting together to share experiences and support each other. You will find that many others are in a like situation as you... so come join us!
A walk, hike and a whole lot more.............
We've all been in situations when we wanted to get out, into the outdoors, and do something new, exciting and adventurous. However, for whatever reason, that didn't happen – either because the friends didn't want to come along or you didn't know where to go.
We all know that feeling and are re-creating this Meetup to connect like-minded adventurous people to get together for adventurous and social outdoor activities. Our members come from all walks of life, but we all share the desire to do something different every once in a while.
What we do will vary from week to week, but a large focus will be on day hiking trips, and include rafting, cycling, horseback riding, skiing, weekend trips and whatever else comes up depending on the season and the interests. So if you have something in mind that you've always wanted to try, please suggest it!
Our activities will include ALL fitness level to ACCOMMODATE all members of our group, and most of the time no special skills but 1 - a positive attitude and a desire to have a fun adventure outdoors. We'll try to keep the activities on a budget and will get the group discounts whenever possible. While we don't provide transportation, we'll try our best to coordinate drivers with folks that need a ride.
That's about it. Join us to be notified of upcoming activities, tell us your ideas and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments.
Members are required to attend a minimum of 1 event a year. If not you are at risk of being removed as an inactive member.
Follow us on Facebook S.O.S.A.G
It's time to get out, flirt and have fun with fellow single members for fun, friendship...and maybe more. We schedule dancing, wine tastings, dinners, games, tours, outdoor activities or anything else that you can think of!
Please be willing to post a recent picture of yourself and schedule any activities you would like.
Meet other singles near you!
Hang out, make new friends and keep up with those you've already met. Not so single, but want a great group of friends to share activities with? Feel free to join as well. Although we do have events in Chicago, the near West burbs are our base, and most meet-ups will there. This means Berwyn, Westchester, Brookfield, La Grange, La Grange Park, Forest Park, Oak Park, Elmwood Park, Melrose Park... Man, that's a lot of parks!
Missing the opportunity for good conversation, laughs that make your belly hurt, and real women who understand you? This group, generally for women aged 35+, is for you! Meet some local women, make new friends and visit with some old ones.
We will get together for drinks, dancing, movies, coffee, lunch, dinner, sporting events, wine tastings, spa outings, shopping events, tv show activities, book club and anything else that will be FUN!
Both weekend and weekday dates will be chosen...depending on everyone's interests!
Our "focus area" is generally from Chicago Ridge to Tinley Park and Blue Island to Joliet -- but, if it's FUN, we're there!!!!
*Please see "Three Strikes" rule on the message boards for more information about events requiring reservations.
*All "guests" should be women approximately age 35+, unless otherwise noted.*
LIVE CHATROOM too! Let me start by saying WE ARE SOME OF THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE WHO ATTEND MEETUP EVENTS!!! Yes, you will feel included, yes you will be encouraged to join into the conversations... Yes, you will be introduced around... (now here are some specifics as to what this group is about)
Not only about DIVORCE, it's for people restarting their lives... Come meet people in similar situations, and those who are now past it... there is hope!
While aimed mostly toward people getting together to lighten your spirits thru social activities, we also have a message board and will have some guest speakers regarding relevant topics... financial planning, custody and visitation, tax questions, and family counseling, etc.
Occasionally, we might also have some group outings where the kids are invited out--so that non-custodial as well as parents with custody can mingle and have their children meet others in similar situations.
Our activities include but are not limited to: dining out, dancing, karaoke, stopping into some local bars to grab a drink of beer or cocktail and chat, wine and cheese tasting, bowling, easy hiking adventures, movies in the park and music/food festivals, etc.
Mostly it's about cutting loose, letting your hair down and partaking in some much needed fun and relaxation in an atmosphere where most of us have been in the same boat and can offer a shoulder to lean on.
It's for people not only going thru divorce, but widowed, separated, and those in a transition in their lives... Join!

Welcome to the Woodridge, Lisle and Downers Grove Meetup Group for social gatherings of 30- and 40-something professionals. Our goal is to make this a light-hearted social group to meet professional people with similar interests and, most of all, have fun.
Our group activities may include events such as--but are not limited to--getting together for dinners, happy hours, game nights, picnics, live music/concert, festivals, museums, sports, night life, dancing, hiking, biking, etc. This group is about meeting new friends with similar interests, networking, socializing and basically just having a good time. It is open to single, not-so-single, divorced, married, partnered, etc., individuals. Although a lot of our events take place in the Woodridge/Lisle/Downers Grove areas, we do have many members who live in the immediate surrounding areas--and beyond. Living in the aforementioned towns is not a requirement of the group.
This group is for those people who:
1. Are new to the area.
2. Want to expand their circle of friends.
3. Have had friends who have moved out of state.
4. Have friends who have limited time to hang out.
5. Want to make new friends.
This is NOT a group in which to:
1. Promote your own Meetup group or other events that you organize within our group and try to recruit members, either at the events, on the message boards or in individual e-mails to members. Anyone who joins our group and attends events solely to promote their own Meetup agenda will be removed from the group.
2. Push a political or religious agenda.
3. Directly sell or promote a business, products or services at an event, on the message boards, in greeting areas or through individual e-mails to members. Anyone who violates this rule will be banned from the group.
4. Only pursue dating opportunities, either at the events, through the message boards and greetings areas, or in personal e-mails to other members. Posting inappropriate comments on the message boards or in members' personal greetings areas or through e-mail (i.e., rude comments toward other members, invitations for dates, etc.), will not be tolerated and will result in removal from the group.
If your only interest in joining this group is to "hook up," then this is not the right group for you. Just a reminder that this is a platonic social group and NOT a dating group. If you hit it off with someone in the group and strike up a relationship that's great, but it's really not the objective of the group. Also, if you network and find someone who performs a service based on their job that is great as well, but our events are not meant to be places where you can come with the intent only to promote a product, a business or a service.

We are the young, high energy adventurists of the Chicago Suburbs!! We kayak, mountain bike, snowboard, ski, rock climb, camp, and hike like crazy!
Let's face it. You have a taste for adventure, a desire to be active, and love for the outdoors. Who wants to tag along with old people groups and talk about the weather? People in our group are generally in their twenties. We are passionate and full of energy.
This group is a very casually ran, which means it's the equivalent of calling up a bunch of friends, sayin' "Hey, let meet at this location, at this time, and do this kick-ass event!", and we call it a meet-up. Meet-ups revolve around adventure in the outdoors. Therefore, at any given time during our meet-ups when you look up, you can see the sky! The only time you'll find us inside is when we are doing important stuff like rock climbing. Also, adventure is an activity that comprises risky, dangerous, or unexpected experiences and will require some level of physical exertion, so expect that you'll not be 100% safe all the time and are at risk of injury.
The outdoors play a crucial role in the development of one's inner spirit. Being active in the outdoors guides one to realize his/her true potential. We are mostly comprised of college students and working professionals who love to hit the wilderness in our free time. We search out the most economic outdoor adventure trips in the Midwest. We also take into account that most of us have very busy lives and can not alway accommodate multi-day trips, so we have a variety of single day trips.
Some of our meet-ups are only for experts in that specific sport and others are at the beginner level. Either way, you are sure to find something of your liking. Also, we are always open to recommendations. Everyone has their favorite place and we would like you to share yours with us so we can all enjoy it :-)
To join:
Just click Join. Please answer everything in the questionnaire to be accepted and you'll be expected to pay the required $5 fee within 3 months through Amazonpayments or at you first meetup in cash, whichever comes first.
This group is for people who want to have F-U-N! We will meet two to three times a month for social gatherings, attend local wine and beer tasting events, and attend local festivals and events. If you are a seasoned wine or beer expert or a person just wanting to meet a fun group of people for a great time, this is the place for you. Good company, great conversation, and plenty of laughter are our goals. Join us for our next event. All suggestions are welcome.
This group was designed for 20 and 30 somethings who want to take advantage of the best the Western Chicago Suburbs has to offer. This is the perfect group for people who want to have a great time, but don't want to drive to the city to meet new friends. Feel free to suggest activities you are interested in!
If you have a more introverted personality, or have problems talking to new people, hang in there. It can take a while to feel comfortable with a new group of people. Also, you may want your first event to be in a setting that involves an activity you already enjoy. Although it's healthy to try new things, you might not want to make it your first meetup. There should hopefully be something for everyone! We look forward to meeting you!
Disclaimer: While we have a lot of single people, this is not a single's dating group. If you find someone, great! However, the primary goal is to make new friends.
List of cities where most of the activities will occur: Naperville, Plainfield, Aurora, Warrenville, Lisle, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Downers Grove, Oak Brook, Lombard, St. Charles, and Geneva.
Welcome to the Chicago Woman Developers Meet-up
While open and welcoming, today's budding developer community is up to 91% male. There isn't a comfortable place where women can learn at their own pace and not be afraid to ask "stupid questions." We decided it was time to provide a place where all questions are OK and everyone can learn in a supportive environment.
LIVE CHATROOM too! Meet other fine wine & dining enthusiasts in your area! Make new friends and have fun whether it's sipping wine, taste-testing a flight of beer/ale, or sampling from other types of libations...single malt scotch, cognacs, etc. Some of our adventures will have us in a fine dining establishment, other times rolling up our sleeves and elbowing up to the bar in a local brewpub.
This group was established not just to have a good time "meeting up" but it was put in place to enjoy drinking fine wines and tasting great foods from all over the world. Also to educate and be a referral source for those interested in these great luxuries but can't seem to find answers.
If you want to know what wine to pair with a great Cuban dish or what dish goes well with a South African Cabernet Sauvignon, you've found the right place!
Our mission is to take the mystery, terror and intimidation out of buying wine as well as to enjoy these beverages with great foods.
We intend to visit some brewmasters, and to explore some single-malt scotches, etc. so there will always be some fun adventure to embark upon. Join us for the wine tours as well!
Let me conclude by saying, WE ARE SOME OF THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE WHO ATTEND MEETUP EVENTS!!! Yes, you will feel included, yes you will be encouraged to join into the conversations... Yes, you will be introduced around....

Have no friends? Have a lot of friends but are tired of them? Are you personality type A? Type B? No one cares. Let's hang out anyway.
Members can suggest a meetup for any time anywhere. If you cannot attend meetups during the week, suggest one for the weekend. You can even host. Typical Meetups include going to a bar, dining, dancing, sitting around talking, going to the movies, etc.
It seems all the singles Meetup groups in the suburbs tend to consist mostly of fifty-somethings with a couple divorces under their belts and their kids married or off to college. Leaving the younger crowd forced to head to Chicago for social activities with others in their age range. Not that there's anything wrong with folks over a certain age, they're as active and vivacious as the rest of us. Sometimes more-so. We just want to hang with people of a similar age.
There are a lot of young singles in the suburbs, and lots of things to do. So let's go out and do something! This group is for younger (under 45), active singles in the western suburbs to get together, mingle, network, make new friends and maybe find that special someone. We are the only young singles group in the near west burbs. Our core area is (Oak Park to Oak Brook), but we'll be in other suburbs and Chicago occasionally too.
So, come out and join other young suburban singles! Meetups are a great way to meet new friends, network, and enjoy your free time trying something you've always wanted to do, but not alone! If you have an idea for an event, post a suggestion on the Message Board in the "Discussions" section, and we'll try our best to do it. Want to host one yourself? Let us know! You can become an event organizer.
Meet a new network of local entrepreneurs to share tips and problem solving techniques, get advice on profitability and career and discuss mentoring and business models. Autism Is Medical "AIMs" to empower parents in their journey to recover their children.
What is
AIM?
Autism is Medical is the creation of Jill Rubolino, Amanda Lochbaum and Jeanna Reed. Three moms brought together by the label "Autism" and its devastation.
We began our journeys into the unknown a few years back and tried our best to navigate through all the damage.
As we began to talk about our sick "autistic" children we soon realized each of them were truly trapped inside a body ravaged with inflammation, infection, dysfunction, and a host of other illnesses.
Driven by the "big red arrows", we felt it was imperative to start sharing any and all information we collectively gathered.
Believing wholeheartedly we could help parents find the keys to unlock the maze of medical issues that plagued their children.
The ultimate goal; a restoration of health to our children, healing to our families and frienships that would offer much needed support.
AIM
believes
EVERY
child diagnosed with "autism" has medical problems that cause symptoms which are currently grouped together under a psychiatric diagnosis.
This does
nothing to describe the underlying medical issues.
We feel it is imperative that each family understands this very point and want each of you to have the same opportunities, updated information, and access to the best medical care available today.
AIM
strives to get parents there sooner, cheaper, and with the least amount of floundering, heartache and financial stressors possible. Search the message boards and files section for years worth of information, opinions, and discussions relating to many different topics.
AIM
appreciates and supports all of our members collective experiences and educated opinions. Utilizing this information to help each other on our individual journeys is invaluable.
AIM
understands that our children do not have time to wait for the medical community to figure out this is
not a behavioral or psychiatric diagnosis. Our children are
medically ill and they need help right now.
AIM
knows that Autism Is Medical and we won't stop until everyone else knows it too.

Our careers have matured, our lives have changed, and that makes us all the more interesting! We would all like to meet new people and expand our dating opportunities. The best way to do this is through social settings and fun events. This is and wll remain an active group designed for professional singles over 45 who value conversation, enjoy dancing and clever toasts to new and old friends, game nights, and regular opportunities to get together and develop new friendships. Our monthly game and dance nights will provide two great venues for regular get-togethers and fun. We will plan and hold quarterly events ranging from a night at the opera to a day at the races. If you like to laugh, dance, and even sing and have a little competitive streak that enjoys board games, cards, baseball, train trips to the city, and interesting people with interesting minds, this is it!
The only games we play have rules and if a hookup is your only goal, there are other places for that. Of course we all like to date and make new friends, but our focus is all about making lasting friendships that will be around ten years from now.
Do you love to travel? If so, this group is for you. I love to travel with friends and family and the more the merrier.
I would love to connect with people who have the same love of travel as I do. We will be expanding our horizons together as we discuss and plan trips and adventures. I would like to form group trips in the US or abroad, for a day, a week, etc. If you like to travel, have fun and meet new people then this is the meet up for you. Everyone is welcome to join!
Please see the recent poll to give your opinion.

Meditation is often defined as taking a moment to sit quietly or to ponder. True meditation, however is much more than this. It is state of profound, deep peace that occurs when the mind is calm and silent, yet completely alert. This is just the beginning of an inner transformation that takes us to a higher level of awareness. This enables us to fulfill our true human potential. The problem, of course, is how to achieve this state.
Within every human being there is a subtle system of three channels and seven energy centers. At the root of this system lies a creative, protective and nurturing power which is a dormant, maternal energy. When this power is awakened within us, it rises spontaneously through the central channel. It passes through each of the energy centers and emits from the fontanelle bone area on top of the head. The energy can actually be felt on top of the head and on the palms of the hands. Any imbalances in the subtle system can be felt on various parts of each hand. Through this meditation one can learn, not only how to diagnose and decode the state of one's own inner subtle system, but one can also learn very simple cleansing techniques to rebalance oneself.
Movie lovers of the Chicago suburbs - we will be meeting primarily in the south and western suburbs.
Not only will we have official meet-up days but I hope we can keep the message board active for those of you just wanting to see a movie right away...
This is a group of individuals who are eating raw from just starting to all raw food. Some individuals are struggling to stay on the raw food diet. Some come to the group just curious to find what is it like to eat raw food. Some eat 100% raw foods.
This group is for location photography. Photographer's of all levels of experience are welcome. Some ideas I have are to shoot, landscape, cityscape, urban, railroad, cemeteries & Graveyards.
As sometimes we would like to use models at these locations, models are welcome to join as well.
I welcome location suggestions from all the members, and ask that you also get involved in creating your own outings. This way I can offer more than one location on the same day, so everyone has an opportunity to photograph what interests them.
Models, if you have a concept, or specific photo need in mind, this is the place to get it.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns that you may have.
I will do my best to get us lower admission fees, if the location charges for rental, use, or admission.

Many of our pugs (and parents) have really gotten to know each other and look forward to our monthly play date. We currently meet at the A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter in Naperville each month on the 3rd Saturday for an hour or so of off-leash playtime. We are hoping to have more activities and generate new ideas. Please join us for some fun!!!

We are looking forward to meeting all of you and enjoying life in the southwest suburbs!
We will be going to a variety of venues: bars, clubs, livemusic, and outdoor festivals in the summer. Most of the venues will be in and around the southwest suburbs,at times we may plan something in the city for a change of pace.
What happened to us??!! If your like me, your single or divorced, busy with a full time job, and with commitments at home which don't allow you much time for yourself. I find myself spending way too much energy on the daily grind instead on having fun, staying active, and investing some time in myself. I am starting a new Meetup for those of us in our 30's and 40's who find themselves single and looking for an opportunity to meet new people, start new friendships, and get out and have some fun. It doesn't matter if you have never been married, going through separation or divorce, children or no children, you just need to be single, in your 30's or 40's, and committed to a drama-free environment to join.
Our Meetup's purpose would be to provide Fox Valley Area singles the opportunity to go to events such as Happy Hours, Live Music performances, Wine Tasting events, Outdoor events (volleyball, softball, Frisbee, walking, biking, etc), Poker nights, Bunco nights, house parties, Sporting events, Gym nights, Trivia nights, Movie nights, really any event that's fun and exciting. We can even include events for the whole family (minus the ex's of course!). Our Meetup group will also provide single professionals with a way to meet other singles without the pressure of one-on-one dating or having to result to online dating so much. Meetup events are usually a great way to spend some time getting to know someone in a safer, group environment. However, the official purpose of the Meetup would not be a dating site. Responsible, adult behavior with common sense rule the day in this Meetup group.
There are only a few requirements to belong to the Fox Valley Area 30's & 40's Singles Meetup. You must be single, which means that you have never been married or you are separated, divorced, or widowed, somewhere between 29 and 49 years old, and be able to provide a date-stamped picture of yourself when you join. Your picture can have anything in it you want, but you must be in the picture and the picture must be recent. One last thing, if you find yourself constantly surrounded by self-imposed drama, do all of us a favor and don't join. I reserve the right to remove anyone from the Group who brings unwanted drama to the events or to other members. Other than that, the only other rule is to try to enjoy life and get out and have fun!
One last thing, unmarried couples are invited. Just make it well known that you are not available if you join with your significant other or you find a significant other in this group!
I LOVE LIVE MUSIC. Do YOU? This meetup is for people that love going out to live music, meeting new friends, or hanging out with your group. We will be going to different music venues with every style under the sun like Rock, R&b, Pop, Old School, Alternative, blue grass and gospel friends. We will create and support local artists that depends on our friendly support to develop their craft and radio play request. It is awesome to hear fresh music that is good enough to win music awards but so new it not on CD yet ! Music is a great place for friends to business network as well. We will have a BLAST as they pour out their soul in orginal music and sometime chart buster songs. This is a great place to meet new friends. A place for friendly dining out, get to know the Chicago bands, music scene or neigborhoods. This is a place to see solo artist perform and people dance. This is the place for BIG TOURS suggestions that we may car pools, start bus parties or get discount tickets. If you like a band or know an artists is coming to Chicago recommend them to see if we can get people interested(preferrably 30 or more days B4 event). We don't asks that you go to all events but we do asks that you show up to the one's you RSVP. This is what friends do. We know life happens and plans change but if they do at the last minute we are ok, as long as you send a friend to keep your seat warm(LOL). Live music club meetup may receive group seating because of RSVP's, so don't mess up our track record with venues(EVEN FREE SEATS). We want to go to live music shows base on group interests, so let us know. Of course we are looking for venues in and around Chicago but if a great cruise deal pop up count me in. We are also looking for business partners to join us as "business friends". Organizers are desperately needed, so step right up. If you miss my repetition in the middle, let me say it one more time. Join us because this is the place to for music fans to meetup.

Three Title Bracelets will be on the line Jan. 15 & 16 as players from around the world meet for Chicagolands most prestigious championship poker series. The Quad-States Poker Grand Championships are sanctioned by Chicago Poker News as the Official Championship of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
Both a No-Limit Texas Holdem event and a Mixed Games (No-Limit HOSE) event are scheduled. Title bracelets will be awarded for the champion of each of these tournaments and to the player with the highest overall average finish for both events. All tournaments will be double-elimination style with one optional re-buy and/or add-on available. Chicago Poker News publisher Stew "Chicago Mike" Bishop describes this structure as "truly a championship... double elimination tests a players ability to come back from the felt... the great players have that talent... effectively, to win these titles you will have to 'beat everyone twice'..."
The Quad-States tournaments are among the highest-percentage payout structure, offering over a 90% prizepool payout at full buy-in & rebuy in addition to trophies and the coveted Championship Title Bracelets. "The payout percentage for these tournaments is about as high as it gets", said Bishop, "... gamblers can do the math and recognize the value here..."
Despite the popularity of the Texas Holdem Event, Bishop advises players not to overlook the Mixed Games Championship: "... Texas Holdem gets alot of attention these days, since Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP in 2003...", says Bishop, "... I've been managing poker events almost 20 years now, I can tell you absolutely, without question, the number one way to improve your poker game is to play Mixed Games. It's like an athlete needs to cross train, a poker player needs to play all the games if they want to get to the top... that's one reason Chicago Poker News recognizes this series as the 4-State Championship, because it offers both Texas Holdem AND Mixed Games, and it offers a great payout..."
A special hotel room rate will be available to players at the event. See calendar page for complete details.
Chicago is legendary for the warmth and hospitality of it's citizens and players will appreciate the professionalism and courtesy of Poker Manager Dom Niro and the entire tournament staff at the Majestic Star.
On behalf of a great city and a great venue, the Chicago Poker Meetup Group wishes all players the very best of success at the Quad-States Poker Grand Championships and we'll see you at the final table!
This is a social and networking group of professionals in the western suburbs of Chicago near Oak Brook, IL. We will meet every few weeks for happy hour to relax and have a little fun after work at some of the great restaurants in the area.
For everyone with interests in any aspect of developing sustainable suburban living on our planet who believe the only way to make progress is to come together and do something about it. Resource conservation, renewable energy, peak oil planning, localizing our communities, organics, energy efficiency, recycling, politics, educating, self sufficiency, transportation--we all need to work together. If you are interested in learning or have information to share, the only way to progress is to get together and work on it. The purpose of this group is to allow people to set up times on their own, convenient to their schedules in order to do just that. With everyone's busy schedules, it is sometimes easier and more effective to meet with just a few people for breakfast, lunch or coffee instead of an evening meeting. The intended purpose of this group is to provide members a vehicle to set up those meetings to learn, teach and plan--so LET'S GET TOGETHER AND SEE WHAT WE CAN DO!
This is your Meetup!!

This meditation technique is taught as a science and is practiced by people of many religions, faiths and belief systems. Within you is the "science lab" in which you conduct this "science experiment." The Science of Spirituality (S.O.S.) teaches a meditation process called Jyoti, or Light, Meditation. It's free and anyone can practice it. It should be noted, this is a voluntary meditation program. One stays in their social or religious traditions to practice this meditation. It needs to also be noted, this is a purely spiritual meditation technique. This means Jyoti Meditation is not taught, for example, for stress-relief. It's taught for self-realisation. However, while the main purpose of Jyoti Meditation is purely spiritual, the practice has great benefits. If you want to try this meditation technique, you can start meditating by setting a time to meditate, preferably a time when you are very alert. At that time, sit in a comfortable chair. Get into a position, one where you won't move, and gently close your eyes. Keep your eyes horizontal and look straight ahead. To calm the mind, you repeat any name of God that is acceptable to you. Repeat that word. Repeat. Repeat. Continue to repeat that name until you are done meditating. Repeating this name keeps the mind focused on meditating. For more information, through a program called, "Enlightened Living," S.O.S. sponsors expert speakers throughout Chicagoland but, also, everyday, in Naperville, Illinois, the S.O.S. Meditation Center is open from 10 to 5 for meditation. Visitors, please sign-in and ask Reception, if you have any questions. Take a look at our S.O.S Meetup calendar to see the variety of the free public talks and all the cities where we host those talks. Our Meetup photo album gives you an idea of what to expect to see at the Science of Spirituality Meditation Center in Naperville, Illinois, right off of Highway 88. We look forward to welcoming you! And, remember to look into Annual August Veggie Fest. In 2011 our attandence hit 22,000 people. Please come! Sign-up to volunteering on any of the days by going to our calendar and r.s.v.p.ing on the date you want to help. Questions? Please visit www.sos.org or www.jyotimeditation.org for more information, or call the National Headquarters in Naperville, IL, 630-955-1200.

This group was created to provide an outlet for people in their thirties who still know how to have fun after a busy work week. This is not your typical meetup group. The objective of this group is to meet like minded people to become friends with.
Activities may include but not limited to: dinners, happy hours, game nights, movies, picnics, live music/concert, fetivals, museums, road trips, sports, night life, and dancing to name a few. This is about meeting new friends with similar interests and having a good time.
This group is for NON-SHADY and NON-FLAKY:
1. People who are NEW to the area2. People who want to expand their circle of friends 3. People whose friends have moved out of state 4. People whose friends have no time to hang out 5. AND basically for people who want to make new friends
If you are looking to meet a great group of people to hang out with on a regular basis and develop a great friendship, then look no further.
If your only interest in joining this group is to "hook up", then this is probably not the right group for you. Just a reminder that this is a platonic social group and NOT a dating group. If you hit it off with someone in the group that is great but it's really not the objective of the group.

¡Hola bailarines!
Welcome to Sultry Salsa,
your best source of information for sizzling Latin dance lessons and information about the hottest Latin nightclubs in Chicago & the Chicago Suburbs.
Sultry Salsa!
¡Salsa es Vida!
We organize and promote Latin dancing events, primarily nightclub Salsa nights, throughout Chicago and the Midwest.
In addition, we conduct lessons in Salsa, Bachata and Cha Cha and other Latin dances in various locations, including dance studios and nightclubs, in and around the Chicago area and about the Midwest, all by Chicago's own Barón de Bachata, Jed Walker!
Our quest is to teach everybody to dance and to look good dancing. We teach both style and technique together, by melding the style of street dancing to the technique of ballroom dancing, to help leads and follows become dancers that can dance well with anybody, anywhere, anytime. A dancer that is enjoyable, exciting, fun to dance with and entertaining to watch.
We intend this site to be the one and only place you need in order to find the Latin dance lessons you seek in Chicago or the Chicago suburbs. In addition to finding out all you need to know about our various classes, you can use our site as a resource to find out about Sultry Salsa's venues and special dancing events, read reviews by the experts of what's going on in the Chicago Salsa scene as well as articles about different aspects of the Latin dance culture and even other dance cultures, join our mailing list and find useful links to other dance organizations and resources in your area and beyond.

"Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together , as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV
Our group seeks to bring dedicated, faithful Christian Singles seeking to live a deeper faith and understanding together with other single faithful believers for fun social events and activities; building stronger relationships among Christian believers, both men and women alike. The majority of our members comprise the 30-49+ age range and should be regularly practicing Christians with Biblically-based values and principles. Our activities range from sports like volleyball, tennis and canoeing to social events like concerts, plays and dinners, along with Christian serving opportunities in the community and projects helping our own members. Since numerous churches do not have singles groups, or leave out singles from specific events, our desire is to find and unite single believers so that we might strengthen and encourage one another, build new relationships, and take a brighter light out into the world. We are a PRIVATE group for the purpose of Christian fellowship, friendship, serving opportunities, knowledge and personal development among all believers of the Christian faith. While we are not a dating group, if healthy dating relationships occur, the group will support them, as long as they proceed in a Godly fashion. We will not tolerate individuals who subscribe to this meetup as another avenue to pursue "picking up dates". If a member regularly makes other members of the opposite sex uncomfortable in any way, or will not be open to reproach regarding a particular behavior, they will be politely asked to leave.
If you living a Christ-centered lifestyle, looking to meet and build relationships with more committed single Christians in your area, and you are not out to "score your next date", then you should definitely consider signing up with us for fun events and activities!
While some events will be larger in size, many events will be smaller in nature, and may arise with very short notice.

We have both age-based and mixed playgroups for our members which are not only a great way for your children to make new friends, but for you to meet other moms going through the same things as you.
We absolutely want our members to be involved and contribute their many talents in order to make this as positive an experience as possible. We firmly believe that you take out of this what you put into it and welcome ideas from all our members. This group is for ACTIVE members only. Drum Circle Community group to promote, expand, share and enjoy social connections with area hand drummers of all experience levels and styles. We gather in the greater Fox Valley area for drum circles, social gatherings and shared community. We've been active for 2 years now (officially) with a growing circle of kindred spirits. I believe in sharing and cross pollination between groups when there's an event, gatherings or activities of mutual interests.
I've been active in area drum circles and events for many years, currently facilitate one at Light Heart Center in Wheaton the 2nd Sat of each month from 7-9pm. ( http://www.thelightheartcenter.org/ ) Also hosting one on the 2nd Fri of each month at the Aurora Yoga Center and the 3rd Fri at Kindred Spirits in Oswego.
There are a number of folks here who are looking to connect and create a local drum circle community and social group, so I decided it was time to start this group and hope it draws them to participate.
~Merry Met and Blessed Beats~
This group is all about making new friends with other women in their 20's-30's in the western suburbs. We've found that the biggest problem with meetup groups is that you show up to a meetup, make some awkward conversation, and never see the people you've met again. No one seems to know how to go about actually making friends at meetups. Hopefully this group can change that. Most of our meetups will not be "formal" meetups where something is scheduled weeks in advance, because who really knows if they'll be free in a few weeks? Most will be "informal" where we'll just e-mail all members and see who's up for a lunch, dinner, a movie, a shopping day, etc.
LIVE CHAT too! This group is for Dancers all over Chicagoland interested in Dancing, Socializing, Mingling and Meeting at some of the Midwest's Premier Dance Destinations.

It is also a group to cut loose with singing or listening to karaoke... You don't really NEED to be able to sing, you just should be able to have fun!
Come out and have FUN, this is not a business endeavour, it's just a fun way to cut loose! Join now...
:)
Let me conclude by saying,
WE ARE SOME OF THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE WHO ATTEND MEETUP EVENTS!!! Yes,
you will feel included, yes you will be encouraged to join into the conversations... Yes, you

I attended the 2010 Cycle World, International Motorcycle Show
in Rosemont. While I was there, I noticed there was an area called
Women's Center. It was a show feature designed specifically for
women riders. I thought, "finally, a place where I can get some
answers!" The expert female motorcyclists from Women's Motorcycling
Foundation (WMF) were very knowledgeable. I tried on riding gear
that actually fit! I was asked if there is a female motorcycle
riding group in the Chicago and Suburban areas. I said I didn't
know of a specific female motorcycle riding group. When I got home,
I looked on line at Meetup.com, didn't see one and so I decided to
start one. This group is open to all Female Motorcyclists who ride
any make or model of motorcycle. It's for women who like to
socialize, head out onto the open road, enjoy the scenery and have
a good time.
We are a nonprofit organization that offers tools and skills for peaceful living. We honor all peace traditions and encourage daily practices that cultivate inner and outer peace in the individual and in the community.

Are you sick of gossip and want real friendships?

Does the thought of diet food make you think of rabbits and no way are you giving up your favorite foods altogether?

"Never give up on anything that you cannot go a day without thinking about"
If your looking to meet some local girls that are in their mid to late 20's and 30's that live near the Northwest suburbs (Aurora, Naperville, Oakbrook, Wheaton, Schaumburg, Addison, Lombard etc.) area to do some adventurous type of activities such as Indoor/Outdoor rock climbing, biking, hiking, bowling, indoor racing etc or just want to meet up after work for happy hour, catch a good movie, or comedy show or get together at someone's place for wine and cheese and game night then this is the group for you.
I've been to few of the meet up groups for just girls and a lot of them are fun but the events are held in the city and for the girls that live in the burbs it's not always easy for us to make it into the city especially during the weekdays and Winter time. So I wanted to create a fun group for the girls that just want to have fun and get out and enjoy what the suburbs have to offer and of course have few events in the city as well.
I would like to incorporate some fun fitness types of activities as well as low cost fun things to do with this meetup. I also want this meet up to be an open group were all the BG's can suggest meet up's so we all get to enjoy something different. If you are also interested in organizing events and want to be part of the Leadership team then feel free to contact me.
It's time for the BG's to have some fun.
There are SO many South Africans in this Chicago-land area, with many stories to tell. Let us meet up to remember why we are proudly South African.
As organizers, our goal is to plan events that South Africans would find fun and interesting, and at convenient days and times that would accommodate the majority of the groups schedule. Please help us by suggesting events you would attend, try to attend events frequently and please let us know if you would like to host an event.
Membership is $10 per year, which is less then a $1 per month! This goes towards the quarterly fees to host our group on meetup.com and when there is something left over we use it for prizes and raffles at our events.

Don't believe all the hype you hear from the talking heads on the T.V. It's not all doom and gloom, there are areas all over the country that are still appreciating. Besides, an educated investor knows how to make money if the market is going up, down, or sideways.
It all comes down to being educated. When former Fed. Chairman Alan Greenspan was asked what he thought the difference was between the wealthy and the middle class, his answer was very simple, "The right education!" and he wasn't talking about going to college. If you want to do make money investing in anything, you need to be properly educated.
Are you ready to start receiving "The right education"?
The Community Network is the support you need to create a successful real estate portfolio! Just by being a member of the Community, YOU will have exclusive access to real estate investor services, professional contacts, real estate investing opportunities, and best of all - the camaraderie of like-minded real estate investors!

Do you have a child (niece, nephew, etc.) that displays psychic characteristics? Do they talk about spending time with the angels, being in Fairy Land? or perhaps they've "got" add/adhd, autisim. We may be able to help lessen the traits or symptoms that go along with these labels.
We love to help teach the kids to take control & not be afraid. Sometimes all they need is to know that they are not crazy, they are normal with some extras! Please contact Auriel for a free consultation appointment, you do not need to bring your child with you. Auriel can be emailed through meet-up.
We do not advocate anyone to go off any medicines they are taking, or to discontinue any counseling they are receiving. We can be a compliment to your current treatment, and possibly assist you in getting well faster. Everyone is on a different path, and your path will be what we look at when you see us for any services.

The Berwyn Gaming Group represents a small portion of the roleplaying community in the greater Chicago area. We are players and DMs from all walks of life, representing decades of experience through at least four incarnations of the D&D system. Anyone with the desire to play or run a campaign is welcome!
Quick Questions and Answers
What does theThe Berwyn Gaming Group Meetup offer?
-We offer a safe, supervised environment to experience D&D (or any roleplaying system). The Meetup Organizer and Assistant Organizers provide a structure for the Meetup to smoothly operate and assistance when needed.
How do I get started?
-Players: A quick look at the Campaigns page would be the first step if you're looking to join an existing campaign. Once you find a campaign you like, contact the DM to request a seat at the session. He/she should contact you in return with the specifics of the campaign.
-DMs: If you intend on beginning a new campaign, contacting an Organizer for more information would be a good idea. We're always looking for talented DMs to create more roleplaying opportunities for The Berwyn Gaming Group!
What's a Meetup?
-If you check out our Calendar, a meetup is when the community comes together at the Berwyn Moose Lodge in Berwyn to enjoy some D&D. Meetups are held where you can get down to some serious recreation with other roleplaying enthusiasts. Meetups are usually scheduled on Saturdays and/or Sundays start between 2pm and 2:30pm and end by 8:00PM when the Lodge closes. Contact your DM regarding session length/rules.
What should I bring?
-Generally speaking you'll need at least paper and a pencil to participate in any campaign. Additional (and recommended) supplies include a set of your own dice, core rulebooks, character sheets, a miniature to represent your character, a snack, and money to get food during the session. We do ask that you purchase drinks from the Lodge. Check with your DM or ask an Organizer for more specific supplies or questions regarding what you can/should bring.
Wait! You didn't answer all my questions!
-If you have further questions regarding the Meetup you can either post a reply to this thread in the general forum or email an Organizer directly. We'll do our best to answer whatever questions you may have :)

Meet nearby Party Game Players! This group is designed for adults (sort-of) who enjoy games like Pictionery, Scattergories, Password, and Charades. Very easy rules and a nice, intimate setting where we keep score but nobody loses. Typically, we stick to PARTY games and not card or board games. It's more constant action for everybody, and, I believe, lends itself to more goofiness! MAKE TIME FOR FUN!!
Looking for guys and gals 18 yrs old and above to enjoy some fun and exercise playing two-hand touch football. Everyone gets to quarterback, play offense and defense. Happiness is a state of mind or feeling characterized by contentment, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy. Happiness comes from deep within, and not from people, situations, or circumstances.
According to Researchers from Harvard Medical School and the University of California, San Diego:
"When an individual becomes happy, the network effect can be measured up to three degrees. One person's happiness triggers a chain reaction that benefits not only his friends, but his friends' friends, and his friends' friends' friends. The effect lasts for up to one year."
Since whatever we focus on grows, the aim of this group is to help members focus on happiness and to spread it at every opportunity.
If you are a happy person and want to socialize and network with other happy people, this is for you. If your goal is to become a happier person this group is for you. If you want to contaminate others with your happiness, this group is definitely for you. Visit http://iamhappyproject.org for more information; while you are there please follow us on twitter and like us on Facebook.
A fun group and a safe environment for our bullies to make friends and to give back to the breeds that have given so much to us! I hope for us to share knowledge and information about topics relating to bully breeds such as training, socialization, bully rescue, agility, animal assisted therapy and how to put an end to breed specific legislation. Please post ideas for future meet-up groups for the upcoming winter, share ideas and photos and ask questions! WELCOME!!!
***This is NOT a breeders forum. ***This group does NOT support the use of bullies for any sort of illegal training or fighting.
Hi, I wanted to start a movie matinee and dinner group in the Western Burbs open to people 45 and over. I enjoy going to the movies in the afternoon before it gets "crazy busy" and then on to a nice dinner and great conversation. There are so many good places to go and I'd love to have some of you join me. There are other things we can do too, depending on the group. I am divorced and a new "empty nester" but this group is not limited to singles. We may do some "singles only" activities later but, my main focus is to get out, go places and make new friends in the process. I've been inspired by my "Ladies Brunch Group" to start another Meet Up Group and I hope you will join me too!

I was looking to join a Moms group in hopes to spend (the little) time with my daughter while seeking support and relax socially with other women with kids. I kept running into daytime meetups and events, and specific descriptions of groups where I did not fit. The purpose of this group is to reach out to other everyday working moms with not-so-flexible schedules who need an outlet and do not have the luxury to call a babysitter when a break is much needed.

Come join us for a fun night of gaming. Weather you are a veteran gamer or new to the hobby you are always welcome. If you own games you would like to play bring them along, we would be glad to give them a try. If you have no games that's ok, several of us bring games ranging from the silly like Flux and Poo, to the time tested Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan, to the more meaty games like Power Grid and Puerto Rico.
Never heard of the games just mentioned, that's ok to. We play many main-stream games from Hearts to Chess. However, we are passionate about our hobby and love to teach new games; if you will allow us, we would love to introduce you to a whole world of games that are fun, challenging and rewarding.
Our game space may seem a bit unconventional but we have found none better. It is well lit, semi-private and quite. The tables are perfect for board gaming. The store is open 24 hours so if your up for it, you can game as late as you would like (some of us are night owls). You are under no obligation to buy anything, although bottomless fountain drinks are only a dollar and you have more reasonably priced food choices then you can shake a stick at. If you are looking for restaurant fair many members go out together after gaming for a late night snack - you of course are always welcome.
So come and relax, put the days worries behind you and lose your self in a challenging and fun evening with friends around a board gaming table.
Who are we?
Bibs to Backpacks consists of a diverse group of moms, who wish to enjoy activities with their kids while creating lasting friendships for themselves! We are easy going moms looking to have fun, learn from each other, and respect differing parenting styles. The majority of our most active members stay at home with children preschool age or younger, but we have working moms and moms of school age children as well. It doesn't matter where you live, but the majority of our meetups take place in Orland Park/Homer Glen/Lockport area. All moms are welcome, as long as you commit to being active in our group!
What do we do?
Our calendar consists of park playdates, mom's nights out (MNO), playdates at members' homes, lunches, breakfasts, stroller walks, mall play area, museums, the zoo, among many other fun activities. We have activities almost daily at a variety of times and locations. The majority of our meetups are in the mornings, since that has proven to be the most popular time with our members. We have several afternoon events each month. Occassionally we have weekend meetups. Evening meetups are usually for moms only, but we occasionally have playdates in the evenings.
**New members are only accepted once per month.**
We understand when you find a moms group you want to jump right in and start making friends, so we apologize for any inconvenience. Due to the size of our group and the number of members who join each month, we've decided to only accept members once per month.
In the interest of the safety and comfort of our members and our children, we require all prospective members to attend a Meet & Greet (M&G) with the organizers in a public place prior to your membership approval. Meet & Greets are not interviews! We are a very welcoming group. The M&G will give you chance to meet the organizers, as... well as other new members, so you will have some familiar faces to watch for at meetups. We will go over some important info regarding how our group runs to help you fit right in. M&G are designed to be a MNO (moms' night out), but infants are always welcome at our MNOs. Our M&G is held on the first Tuesday or Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm in Orland Park or Frankfort (see dates below). You will receive an email one week prior with the location. At that time you will be asked to rsvp. Please note the rsvp deadline is the Saturday prior to the M&G (we cancel if no one has replied, so please don't forget). Please watch for this email (check your spam folder, just in case)! If you don't rsvp (yes or no), your application will be deleted. You may apply at any time by clicking the green Join Us button on our homepage. All profile questions need to be completed, and you need to upload a photo of yourself (with or without kids). If you do not plan on being active, then please do not join. This is for the safety of all our active members and their kids. Scheduled M&Gs Wednesday, May 4, 7:30pm, Location: TBATuesday, June 7, 7:30pm, Location: TBAWednesday, July 6, 7:30pm, Location: TBATuesday, August 2, 7:30pm, Location: TBAWednesday, September 7, 7:30pm, Location: TBATuesday, October 4, 7:30pm, Location: TBAWednesday, November 2, 7:30pm, Location: TBAMembership is closed for the month of December. We understand evenings can be difficult for some moms; however, meeting without kids really works best because we cover a lot of information. We ask that you try to find a way to make this one time mandatory meeting. Convince Daddy he'll be fine for one evening. :-) We alternate between Tuesdays and Wednesdays each month to accommodate moms who may have a prior commitment on certain days. That being said we understand there may be a reason (like you work in the evenings or have no sitter) that our scheduled time may be impossible for you. If that is the case, please email us when you receive the M&G invitation and give us dates and times during the first week of the month that work for you.
~~ Please read our About page before applying for membership. ~~
*****Do NOT email the organizer regarding products or services. I will not pass them along to my members. All spam will be reported to Meet-up.*****
We have started this group to encourage people to get out and dance! If you have participated in Flash Mobs or would like to participate in a upcoming Flash Mob, just join our group and we will keep you informed of every practice and location for 2012!
Meet other Wargamers who are interested in historical gaming. We have a small wargaming group located in North Riverside (1 mile North of Brookfield Zoo) with a focus on historical miniatures. Our miniatures include WWII (skirmish, armor, air, and naval), Civil War (land and naval), American Revolution, Napoleonic, Crimean War, Franco Prussian War, French Foreign Legion, WWI (air and naval), Ancients, Medieval, and Renaissance. We are also both interested and open to other periods. We believe that the gaming environment should be relaxed and friendly. The focus of gaming is enjoyment of the game and winning is of secondary importance. Our games are currently held at 10 AM on the 1st Saturday and 7Pm on the 3rd Friday of each month. We play in a finished basement with 2 large comfortable gaming rooms. The Chicago Regional Alliance of gamers meets one Saturday each month for a wide variety of boardgames. Our members range in age from 17 to over 70. All ages and experience levels are welcome.
Are you yearning to scrapbook but just can't find the time? Do your kids, family and work responsibilities dominate your life and time? Me too! While this is all good, we need to carve out some quality time for ourselves!
I have been an avid scrapbooker for over 15+ years! I am very interested in meeting local scrapbookers and getting together for Scrapbooking Marathons! I just love quality "uninterrupted" time working on my scrapbooks since their just doesn't seem to be enough time in our busy lives!
SO.....we came up with the idea to host Weekend Scrapbook Retreats in Aurora, IL & St. Charles, IL. We have a lot of fun and we have had over 250 scrappers attend one or more of our Weekend Scrapbook Retreats! We have lots of giveaways, Welcome gifts, contest and raffles! I also own and on-line scrapbook store, The Scrap Cabana so we will have lots of great Scrapbooking Products on-site to choose from.
Check out our site, The Scrap Cabana.com We are also open to the public so if you can't crop, stop by to shop!
If you would be interested in attending and meeting local scrapbookers, please let me know! We have 2 remaining retreats in 2011 & 9 scheduled for 2012. If anyone out there is interested in meeting new "scrappin" friends, join us on our next retreat!
Check out our Facebook Page and our Weekend Scrapbook Retreat's Pages. Hope to scrap with you soon! Until then.......Happy Scrappin'

This group was created by a mom who left city life behind to tackle new adventures in suburbia. And what a blessing! HAMs has been a great resource for our beautiful children, and for ourselves as young mothers, connecting with ladies in similar life settings. We love venturing out to parks, pools, splash pads, the zoo, children's museum, rec centers, etc. as well as gathering for mom time to socialize without distraction. If you are looking for fun ways to entertain your little one and share life experiences with other moms at the same time then this group is for you!
As much as we agree it is important for nannies and stay at home dads to connect with others, this group is dedicated to mothers and their little ones.
The purpose of this group is for people to meet people and just have fun!
I started this group because I noticed that there are not many Single Meetup Groups in the Southwest Burbs of Chicago

Focused on science, technology, mechanics, culture and the digital arts we offer a space were people with diverse backgrounds can socialize, collaborate and learn. Through shared resources, knowledge and ideas we strive to create a space that promotes community and learning.

The meetup was created to offer support and encouragement to a diverse group of people who are redesigning, reinventing, rediscovering or recareering their lives. The supporters share their wisdom, knowledge, and guidance during the process of creating new beginnings. The loss experienced could be any type of separation from friends, family, finances, and faith. Career changes such as Reduction in Force, Termination, Resignation, or Relocation. Relational changes such as divorce, separation, or death. Spiritual changes or challenges that have you rethinking or refreshing your faith walk.
The goal is to share our strengths as we help each other construct a more joyful, prosperous, and exciting pathways that will make the second half of our lives much greater than the first.
If you "get it", this is your group. You are fully aware that everything in the Universe is connected. You've read the books, you've watched the movies, you've done the work, now what? The path of enlightenment is never-ending, and through this meetup, you will learn about events that will help you continue the process, and meet like-minded folks while you're at it!
While many of the activities will be "doing the work", others will be more social in nature, spending time with folks who have perhaps progressed a little further on the path than "mainstream" folks and have things in common with one another.
Regarding the Metamorphosis Workshops, they are psychic in nature, though I do not prefer to use that verbiage. We are definitely tapped in, and this workshop is a powerful manifestation of that. Should you choose to join us, be prepared! :)
On a side note, I personally feel that inter-connectedness includes our home, Earth, and so I will also be posting events relating to sustainability when I run across them.
We are one, after all, you and I. Together we suffer, together exist, and forever will recreate each other. ~~Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
About your organizer: Kaaren's Guides have gently led her into shamanism; though untrained by man, she is able to utilize the tools of a shaman via Their influence. A council of Beings work through and with her to effect healing in those they work on, collecting the lost pieces of the client's soul/energy. Using her hands, movement, crystals, drums, light, music, etc. she is guided to cause empowering shifts. In the process, she is shown visions of the client's life (experiences, family & friends, places, things) which are shared with the client for their knowledge & growth. The humility and joy she feels in being able to provide this service are indescribable, and it is now her life's work to help as many as possible. She looks forward to working with you, either in a group healing circle, or on an individual basis. See www.KosmicMatrix.com for more info; feel free to contact her via this meetup.
