Joliet is a city located in northeastern section of the state of Illinois.
The city is located in both Will and Kendall Counties, and is the county seat of Will County.
Joliet is a fast growing city. In 2000 the population of Joliet was 106,221 and by 2008, the population had grown to 152,812. Between April 1, 2000 and July 1, 2008 Joliet was the fastest growing city in the Midwest US.
The city was first settled in 1833 and then incorporated in 1852.
Joliet is about 40 miles southwest of Chicago. It was first named Juliet, however in 1845 the residents changed the name to Joliet.
